ETP assigns a rate to each shift. In Utilities->Customize Software->General tab, there is a drop-down list to pick the rate source from:
Positional Rate
applies the rate that is defined in Setup->Positions.
Employee Rate
applies the rate defined in each Employee's Profile.
Departmental Rate
applies the rate defined in Setup->Departments.
Take higher of the three.
ETP will look at the Positional, Employee and Departmental rates and take the highest of these three rates.
If you have employee(s) working in different departments during the day or employee(s) working two different shifts during a logical day (24hr), and they are to be paid the highest rate for all, put a check in the box.
Also, enter the amount minimum amount of time the employee is required to work on a shift or a department before the 'Highest rate' kicks in.
eg. Employee works on one shift for 8hrs @ $10.00hr and works on a second shift for 1.5hrs @ $50.00hr.
If 02:00hrs is the minimum amount of time for consideration, this employee would NOT get the $50.00hr, he/she would get the $10.00hr rate.
If the employee had worked 2.5hrs on the second shift, the system would have picked up the $50.00hr for both shifts.
